Multimedia mobile phones are becoming the foremost media tools to capture our personal lives. They are in our pockets at weddings, concerts and when we’re at home. We take them out to capture important events as well as trivial situations to share them privately or online with the masses.

In this multimedia event, examples will be shown of content that has been primarily captured by these phones. Examples include digital stories that reflect multicultural activities all over Finland. Some of the stories have been sourced from the net, some of them were created by the presenter and some of them were produced by twelve year olds. The youngsters from Tampere produced stories as part of an EU funded project – the Mobile Literacy Programme (MobiLeap).

The event is presented by multimedia producer Batsirai Chivhanga and supported by a multi-cultural grant from Arts Council Finland.

Are there right and wrong ways to communicate an activist message? Could your “Save the Trees” campaign back fire? Really?

Experience an evening of a great variety of the best do’s and don’ts of activist forest videos, selected by an esteemed jury, submitted by you. For info on how to submit your own video candidate visit the Ptarmigan web site.

“If we are to have more ecologically sustainable relationships with forests which sort of communication and imagery should be preferred? And what are the invader-species that ought to be weeded out from the media landscape?”

The event is organized by Center of Contemporary Art Pispala Hirvitalo.
