18:00 – 23:30 // free

MOIMOIbarcelona Pop Up Store is not your conventional design shop. With parties, projections and workshops going on through the entire month of July, the brand owner and designer Raquel Alonso Miranda promise to shower you with a feeling of summer and plenty of opportunity to get involved.

The temporary Pop Up Store will open up on 1 July and disappear mysteriously on 31 July, giving you only a month to browse through the fresh designs on Kalevankatu. We’re sure MOIMOIbarcelona will be popping up at other locations from time to time, but for now: this is your chance.

At the store opening party, Raquel will present her Cruise Collection 2010, Cava will flow and DJs will be spinning records to announce that Summer has definitely arrived!

Hello Helsinki asked Raquel some quick questions:

HH: Where do you come from and how did you end up in Helsinki?
Raquel: I’m from Spain. I first came to Finland four years ago as an exchange student at Kuopio and last summer I came back as an intern for IVANAhelsinki and I never went back.

HH: What inspires you?
Raquel: Summer parties, sunrises at the beach, mediterranean light, the aroma of the sand…

HH: Where is your favorite place to go in Helsinki?
Raquel: Well… maybe Kallio

HH: Anything you would like to say to our readers?
Raquel: Feel the summer with us!

14 MAY: Pitkämies 2 Store Opening Party

Posted 13 May 2010 by Laura

@ Pitkämies 2 / Myymälä2, Uudenmaankatu 23, Helsinki
18:00-21:00 // free

Pitkämies (Eng: Tall Man) is opening a new store in Helsinki Centre and invite everyone to celebrate. (Oh, yeah, for the people among you who have no idea what I’m talking about, the Pitkämies is pretty much the coziest comic book store in town!) With the new store in the Myymälä2 Gallery in Uudenmaankatu, owner Jelle Hugaerts promises to supply you with even greater gems, like artistic comics/artbooks and clothing, as well as graphic novels and music.

No Party without gifts and treats: naturally you’ll be able to buy selected books and music at a special opening party price. On top of that you’ll get a free Aapo Rapi postard on every purchase.

If you’re worried about your Finnish reading abilities, just ask the nice bearded man on the photo for his special “Finnish for Foreigners” selection.

Bring friends!
