10 JULY: Hello Helsinki Summer Picnic

Posted 6 July 2010 by Laura
@ Koff Park, Helsinki Show map

15:00 – 21:00 (or later – depending on the weather) // free

“One sunny day in Helsinki almost makes up for all those dark months.” In fact we would claim that the above sentence should lose the ‘almost’ to be just right. The quote comes from the Monocle Magazine top 25 list of the world’s Most Livable Cities 2010, which puts the City of Helsinki in fifth place! To celebrate this and many other things (to be announced veeeery soon), Hello Helsinki invites you all to share some sparkly bubbly, beer and home made snacks in the sun.

Hello Helsinki is a 100% volunteer project, which means we thrive on meeting interesting people and experiencing all the best of what Helsinki has to offer. What better way to do this than to enjoy a beautiful summer day in Koff Park, with wonderful people, cool beer and picnic snacks? If you can think of anything, we recommend you swing by and tell us all about it.

Bring your own food and drinks, friends and family and we’ll turn on the music and other great surprises!

18:00 – 22:00 // € 7

The Helsinki Super Singles get-togethers are all about meeting people and having fun. This Wednesday they are heading to the mini golf course in Töölö, to hang out, hit some balls (hmmm) and enjoy a picnic in the sun (if it’s out). Bring your own foods or go buy them at the shop near by.

If you’re new in town the Super Singles outings are a great way to make new friends and who knows, maybe more than that.

Sign up on facebook or just drop by.

12 JUNE: Dodo Urban Garden Picnic

Posted 8 June 2010 by Laura

@Kalasatama harbour, Helsinki
15:00 – 20:00 // free

Are you dreaming of growing your own veggies? Would you imagine, that you can grow food on an asphalt field in the middle of a city? Well it’s true and if you don’t believe us, we challenge you to check out this awesome Urban Gardening project run by Dodo ry and the City of Helsinki.

This Saturday Dodo is throwing a picnic, which might just be the perfect opportunity to satisfy your curiosity and dust off that dream of yours. Bring along you’re own food and open/curious mind and maybe you’ll be going home with a bag of seedlings (bring cash) and the right set of skills to start your own urban garden.

Other programme:

- Tips and tricks on how to grow your own urban garden

- Punky Reggae Acoustic Band

- Competition: make or bake your own eco-delicacy and bring it along to the picnic to be judged by the Dodo jury. The winner will get a VIP-invitation to the delicious Urban Garden-dinner later this year.

The sack garden of Kalasatama is located along the new walking route at the point of the Kalasatama cape, opposite to bridge of Mustikkamaa. Right next to it and this day only, you’ll find the Pimp & Pump – Bicycle Workshop.
